The Bayview Footprints Network of Community-Building Groups encourages the spirit and energy of community so that each footprint we leave today builds on the last, and leads to a future that includes everyone.

Talk with your group about becoming a Footprints Network Member Group or Supporting Organization

Lots of community groups don’t get the support and credit they deserve. Church groups, book clubs, gardening groups, arts collectives, advocacy groups, block associations…hundreds of formal and informal groups are thriving within our community, but often invisible and quiet outside of themselves.

Whether your group meets for a cause or just to have fun, joining the Bayview Footprints Network can increase its reach.

Be Connected. The Network is a “one-stop” connection to potential collaborators for those funding proposals, recommendations and statements of support, advice about fundraising, and more.

Promote Your Work. The Network’s online and print communications are great tools for promoting the work your group is doing. Increase the number of people who come to your events by spreading the word through the social Network. Mention your membership whenever you want to emphasize your group's commitment to the neighborhood.

Find Support. The Network regularly connects people with professional expertise to one another. Your group could hear about available interns and volunteers, and enjoy a pool of knowledge and understanding when you need help with something.

Adopt-the-Network. An exciting new development for Footprints is the chance for a high-involved member group to get concentrated resources from the Network for a specific project or period of time. For instance, our branch library has adopted the Network to help get the word out about the new building project.

Interact with this portal website. There are loads of helpful community-generated resources in a central place at www.BayviewFootprints.org. Many member groups' online resources are already part of this portal site. You may have your own web resource you'd like to see included.

Get started now! Here’s how…

  1. Talk with your group. Print out brochures to inform the conversation.
  2. Decide whether your group fits the Member Group or Supporting Group category
  3. Fill out the application form
  4. Submit the application form to a Steering Committee member

Applications are reviewed monthly, and voted on by current member groups.

Member Group category: Is your group a community-based organization, led by people with deep roots in Bayview Hunters Point? Is it small or informal? (Usually organizations have annual budgets from zero to $500,000.) Is it a small business? Is it a family, church, or social organization? If so, you should consider the Member Group category.

Membership is free. Groups are required to participate in the life of the Network to retain membership. Member Groups each have a vote in any question affecting Footprints, including new member applications.

Supporting Organization category: Is your group a larger or more established organization or institution based in Bayview Hunters Point? Is it serving people outside the neighborhood, too? Is it a government agency or large business? If so, you should consider the Supporting Organization category.

Supporters commit to contributions in support of the Network. Your Supporting Organization will be gratefully acknowledged in all our materials, and invited to participate in events. Supporting organizations are non-voting allies of Footprints. Individuals are also welcome to join the Supporters list.
